George Baskerville teaches addictive behaviors, mindfulness in alcohol and other drug treatment, mindfulness and yoga, and assessment and treatment at the UO. He also conducts alcohol and drug evaluations for Benton County courts in Corvallis. Prior to working at the UO, Baskerville taught yoga for 12 years in Benton County and began his work in 1986 as a therapist for Benton County Mental Health where he ultimately became a supervisor. He provided treatment, crisis intervention, and prevention of substance abuse. He was a Qualified Mental Health Professional (QMHP) as well as a Certified Alcohol and Drug Counselor (CADC III).
Baskerville has a master’s degree in counseling from Oregon State University and a BS in behavioral science from San Jose State University. He maintains his certification as an Alcohol and Drug Evaluation Specialist (ADES) from the state of Oregon. He spent two years living in India studying yoga and meditation. He continues to practice meditation, including attending 10 day silent meditation retreats and trainings
