This workshop will examine SAMHSA's six key principles of the trauma informed approach and trauma-specific interventions as they apply to individuals with alcohol and or drug issues. These key principles are designed specifically to address the consequences of trauma in the individual and to facilitate healing without re-traumatizing the individual. We will focus on the widespread impact of trauma, as well as the signs and symptoms and how these impact an individual and may exacerbate or influence alcohol and or drug use and or abuse.
