The student will become more knowledgeable regarding the types and structures of group therapy, and the skills necessary to implement them. This course will explore the core components of group format and composition, considering the interaction of stages of group development with leadership styles.
This course will explore emerging group practices that integrate cognitive behavioral therapy, interpersonal group dynamics, and mindfulness-based psychotherapy techniques within the framework of the biological/psychological/social perspectives relative to substance abuse treatment.
