Biography: |
Kim Shay, M.S., L.P.C., N.C.C, CA Kim is the Clinical Supervisor for a dual state licensed alcohol and drug treatment program and mental health agency is Salem. For 22 years Kim was the Program Supervisor and Community Educator for a non-profit crisis center for victims of domestic and sexual violence. She has presented more than 1,000 speaking engagements and trainings on the issues of violence against women and children. Kim has testified as an expert witness in the prosecution of batterers and sex offenders. Kim holds a Masters degree in Counseling is a Licensed Professional Counselor and is Nationally Certified. She also has been credentialed as a Comprehensive Victim Intervention Specialist through the National Advocate Credentialing Program. Kim has developed curriculum for training professionals in crisis intervention and crisis response for community college and university coursework. |

Biography: |
Sue Blayre, BSW, MS, NCAC II Ms. Blayre specializes in adolescent and adult chemical abuse, adult survivors of childhood sexual abuse, other various traumas, and secondary trauma. She has extensive experience working with domestic violence batterer intervention. Ms. Blayre is also a trained workplace mediator with experience in organizational development. Ms. Blayre possesses 25 years experience working with substance abuse, 22 years working with domestic violence, and 20 years of dual diagnosis treatment experience. She is sole proprietor of Blayre Agency, LLC in Salem, Oregon and is Program Coordinator for Marion County Sheriff's Office: Parole & Probation Division. |

Description: |
Explore substance abuse treatment and domestic violence intervention. Class will participate in mock groups sharing the differences and similarities of substance abuse and domestic violence. |

Late papers will not be accepted.P means Satisfactory performance (C- or above for undergraduate work, B- of above for graduate work). N means Less than Satisfactory performance, no credit awarded (D+ of lower for undergraduate work, C+ of lower for graduate work.) |

It is the responsibility of each student to read this material. The questions found on the exam will come from class lecture material presented and the reading sources.All answers should combine information from the sessions and readings. When possible cite your sources. Exams and evaluations will be handed out at the end of the course. Exact due dates will be on your exam instructions.Papers should be hand-carried, mailed, or faxed to : SAPP, 180 Esslinger, University of Oregon, Eugene, OR n974036-1237 Fax #: 541-346-3595Extensions will be evaluated on a case-by-case basis. Students may be required to write an additional research paper or complete an alternative assignment. Requests must be in writing and will be evaluated by a departmental committee.Duplicate papers will receive an automatic "No Pass." Definition of "duplicate" is at the discretion of the grader/instructor. Violations will automatically be referred to the Office of Student Conduct.Please retain a copy of all typed work until final grade is posted. Grades will be available of Duck Web at the end of the term.The Substance Abuse Prevention Program reserves the right to adjust expectations to individual circumstances as reason dictates.
