Biography: |
Tracy M. Dennis has 16 years child welfare experience and is currently a child welfare worker, trainer and consultant for the community new caseworkers learning how to assess child abuse and offer services to families. Teaching people about recognizing and reporting child abuse is a passion for her so every child has a chance to have their situation heard. |

Description: |
Examines the Oregon child welfare system; responsibilities of child protection professionals; investigation techniques; interview skills; and victim-perpetrator profiles, including how alcohol and other drug use affects the process. |

Goals: |
Upon completion of this course students should be able to:- Identify types of child abuse
- Be aware of the mandatory reporting laws
- Know how the child welfare system is structured and organized to address child abuse in the community.
- Know the legal definitions of child abuse.
- Identify dynamics of domestic violence and how it pertains to child abuse.
- Know victim safety
