Eric Martin is the Executive Director, Addiction Counselor Certification Board of Oregon (ACCBO) since 1990. He is a dynamic speaker with up to date information that never runs dry. |

Description: |
Basics of adolescent brain & psychosocial development, latest research from SAMHSA Office of Applied Studies, and cutting edge research. An examination of research and theory regarding the development of the frontal lobes, the orbitorfrontal "stop switch", and how early onset substance abuse may impact brain development in these specific regions and the implications for cognition and behavior. Behavior studies from SAMSHA regarding level of youth consumption and its impact on behavior will be examined. This course also examines efforts of the Alcohol & Tobacco industry to encourage young people to drink and use tobacco products, and how communities are fighting back. |
